Hi, all!

I have been wanting to do another recording, and had a bit of time because Tracy had to go to Boston, and it's raining here, so I thought I'd share with you something that I have been working on. Also, I wanted to make a sample recording of how my Seagull MJM6 (Mini-Jumbo) sounds in baritone tuning; I put heavy strings on it so that I could tune it down to B. The strings are D'Addarios, uncoated and not of my preference, but they'll do for this trial. I do love their tone... just not the way they feel. But I do like the guitar's new voicing so much that I plan to keep it this way. I may be capoing it a bit because some material really gets a bit "muddy" in B... depends on the piece, I suppose.

Anyway, I feel like a bit of a pilcher image because I recently heard an impromptu chord progression in a sample for a guitar that was for sale, and I liked it a great deal. It just had a "feel" to it. It was short, and nameless and homeless, so I thought it would not hurt to take it and build on it. I decided to incorporate a modified version of it in something I'm writing for Tracy, and I had actually written a lyric for it and posted here, but I tried to sing it and it was a disaster. So I thought it a bit silly to persist with a lyric that I cannot sing, and shifted my focus toward an acoustic instrumental. This is a preliminary pass at it; the original chord progression is modified and a bit embellished - as if I'm capable of embellishing anything image - and there is no chorus, but an abbreviated bridge that I play only once on this trial effort. There is also a distinct intro and outtro that are complementary to the piece's main chordal structure. I plan to record a longer version after the holidays, but you'll get the idea. Though the guitar is tuned to B, I wanted just a tad more brightness for this piece, so it's capoed at the second fret to render a C-c tuning.

What I originally had in mind was an acoustic ballad, but as I abandoned the lyric it took on a bit of a jazzy feel. It's still for Tracy, as I think it just "feels" like her to me. I have re-titled it, and I hope you enjoy this admittedly brief, preliminary pass at (headphones, please) :
